"Victory In Iraq: How America Won" by Duncan L. Hunter is a very good read. It is especially good in the fact that it provides numerous accounts of how our dedicated men and women in the armed forces served heroically and deserve the praise and gratitude we've given those who served in the past, such as our WWII veterans. The book has so many accounts with names, units and nomenclatures, that it is difficult to keep them all separate, but you don't need to. Realize that the personal stories collected in this volume are representative of many others who served before, alongside, and after those in this book.

Auctoritas, in the sphere of private law, Agamben explains, "is the property of the auctor, that is, the person sui iuris (the pater familias) who intervenes... in order to confer legal validity on the act of a subject who cannot independently bring a legally valid act into being" (76). The term, Agamben further suggests, "derives from the verb augeo: the auctor is is qui auget, the person who augments, increases, or perfects the act-or legal situation-of someone else" (76).

Some of the members of the study group discovered a room where all the professors kept record of their class notes from the different classes they had taught. The human issue is the ethical dilemma of choosing between the right and wrong of an action. Why did I give this book away? The same reason I've given many other copies away during self-defense and safety programs, and for the same reason I read it again. It is a very good book! In fact, it has been said, "every woman in America should read this book." I'd like to add that it is also a good book for men to read, and if you teach self-defense and safety, it is a must read.
Murakami's novel lacks the fantastical elements that normally pervade his work. The novel explores seemingly more mundane topics such as a mid-life crisis and a love-triangle, and is the weaker for it. Although Murakami places a series of twists upon convention, and maintains the mystery evident in many of his books, the story can still be seen as stale.

If locking up a greater proportion of our population than has any other nation in history hasn't done anything to reduce crime, then why has it occurred?

You and The Police by Boston T Party

"You & The Police" by Boston T. Party is an important book in that is provides an easy reference to our constitutional rights when dealing with police and other law enforcement officials. I agree with the book's tag line that, "if you don't know your rights, you have none." You do not have to share Boston's political views and opinions of the government and law enforcement to gain valuable knowledge from this book, and it is knowledge that I believe everyone should be familiar with. In fact, I was discussing this book with a friend of mine who is a Federal Law Enforcement Agent, and he was all in favor of books such as this too. He agreed that people need to know their rights, and had no problem with books and videos that provide accurate and honest descriptions of those rights and the laws that go with them. This book, while obviously leaning toward Boston's political views, does provide an accurate and honest description of individual rights when it comes to dealing with police.
