Those aspiring to professional ministry have the same dreams as individuals entering various careers. After sufficient academic preparation, each young minister has an idealistic view of the world and enters his first parish hopeful that he will translate biblical realities to an eager congregation. Idealism fades to black rather quickly, however, when this same minister realizes that ministry can be arduous work. Parishioners complain frequently, there never seems to be enough time, and there is always one more meeting to attend. For some, the path of least resistance is to leave the ministry and seek their "calling" somewhere else.

In fact, archaeologists used to deny the existence of the Hittites, Horites, Edomites and other peoples and places mentioned in the Old Testament.
Somehow, we seem to think the church is different from other organizations and that everything that happens there is ordained by God and beyond question. As Jesus told his disciples, it is not always the best plan to follow the institutional religious leaders or Rabbis, in their case. Reminiscing about the life he shared with his dad, Bill knew his father epitomized the values he wanted to live out before his own family. Certainly, it is easier to see the sin committed by others while grudgingly hiding any hint of our own. Perhaps scrutiny of the modern church reveals that we are no longer concerned about sin. Without trying to exhaustively detail the tenets of either religion, the first asserts that the pathway to God is accomplished by knowing and following his will as revealed in the Tanakh, a slightly altered derivation of the Christian Old Testament. The latter believes that life is marked by suffering and its purpose, in this life or another, is to follow the Eightfold Path to ameliorate suffering and to help all attain enlightenment, or Nirvana. From the outset, most would believe that there were very little points of convergence. As you read the story of this classic meeting, you see a different characterization unfolding.

The Book That Made Your World traces the Bible's influence of its devotees as they sought the betterment of humanity through the elevation of the individual.
Some matters talked about in new age circles are attractive for those who have a sense that there is a mystery to life. Two examples of topics that resonate are ley lines and dowsing - and they come together in this book. But do ley lines exist and does dowsing work? Ley lines are alleged alignments of such places as ancient monuments and megaliths, ridge-tops and water-fords. It is claimed that these lines have spiritual power and that their intersection points resonate a special psychic or mystical energy. Some people think they were selected in earlier times for the spiritual benefits and revelations bestowed by nature. Others however suggest finding straight lines that "connect" sites, should be put down to coincidence given the high density of historic and prehistoric places in Britain. Paul Broadhurst and Hamish Miller (authors of 'The Sun and the Serpent') are firmly in the first camp.

The symbolism of the garden, the trees in the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the midst of the garden is explained in terms of the interpretation Paramahansa Yogananda received from his guru, Sri Yukteswar. The reason the fruit of the tree in the midst of the garden was forbidden, the ramifications of the spiritual "death" that followed when the symbolic first couple, Adam and Eve, ate it, and the means whereby we may be restored to our original harmony and oneness with the Creator are also explained.

The author, Jeanne Webster, has penned a very well-written and easy to read novel. She relates the fictional fable of Jane (Jeanne?) who is questioning her life choices ( job - she was just "let go" / career - journalist or writer / boyfriend - controlling hunk). She decides to take a month "away from everything" to sort out what she is thinking and feeling in an attempt to determine what she should do with her life. She has chosen to spend a month at a cabin in the Carolinas to relax and unwind for a while. The problem that she encounters begins with the fact that she brings her problems with her in her mind. The solution (although not readily apparent to her) commences when she stops at a lookout point attempting to get some clarity and perspective. When she slips on a set of granite steps and knocks herself unconscious, she receives anything but clarity.

This book has been made into a movie, although I had not heard of either prior to seeing it in my local bookstore. It is definitely not in the category of spiritual fiction books, and would be classified as christian, religious or evangelist in most instances. In my opinion, if you have trouble believing what happens to this farmer, you would consider it spiritual fiction. "Faith Like Potatoes" is the true story of Angus Buchan, a farmer who believes in God so strongly that he will do whatever God wills. When you truly believe in God and do His will and everything works out, that is an amazing occurrence.
Where do we go after the death of the physical body? What do your religious beliefs tell you about what you do after you die? What do you do in everyday existence in the place you go to after you depart this earth plane? If you are like most people, your belief system doesn't have a real answer to these questions. The author of this book describes an alternate way of viewing our spiritual experience after death. Approaching his work with an open mind will bring some pleasant surprises and answers. You will find that this book makes a lot of sense. The author helps to fill in the blanks that have never been explained adequately by traditional religions about what happens after we die.

Acting as Executive editor Robert F. Wolff has collaborated with a broad spectrum of well known authors and theologians known for influencing Messianic Jews and Gentile Christians in promoting reconciliation among believers in this compilation of essays titled "Awakening the One New Man." A unique feature in the discussions of these authors and theologians is that they go beyond talking about the place of Israel in end times. They describe God's purpose and plan for His Kingdom as a message of peace and reconciliation

If you are like me then when you first heard of this possibility you immediately began searching online for answers. Could this really be a possibility and if so how would it occur? The internet is filled with information about this topic but unfortunately it is difficult to find content that is credible or makes much sense.
This essay is a review of the biblical book entitled JONAH which was written by some unknown author. At least, there is no designated writer of this third person accounting, so it has never been made clear who actually wrote this odd tale. Jonah himself is often thought to perhaps be the author, although it seems unlikely that anyone would intentionally write such a dark and unflattering self-portrait! Which is to say that the main character comes off rather badly in the telling of his own story. This really is about the oddest tale ever written and...

Mother Teresa is such an intriguing and mystifying figure who suffered with self-doubts, as revealed in recent books, so the idea of finding out more about her from a sister of her Missionaries of Charity is appealing. The book was not disappointing, as Mother Teresa is seen as perhaps a more real person than in other books. She is not diminished in this view; she only seems more larger than life and holy.

I originally read the true story "Between a Rock and a Hard Place" four years ago and I should clarify that it is not spiritual fiction. The reason I am reviewing it and have put the words spiritual fiction in the title is explained later on. You may have heard the story of Aron Ralston, who had his right hand pinned between a boulder and a rock wall. After five days he amputated his lower right forearm to free himself and basically walked to his own rescue. In 2010 his book was made into the movie "127 HOURS" and this title was added to the book.

We're never to young or too old to affirm our life in Christ. How does faith come? Faith comes by hearing the word of God. We must hear it over and over again and also say it over and over again. Just like anything in life, the key is repetition. You repeat the action, performance, production, or presentation, which will eventually produce the desired end result. By doing so, what is in you will come out of you. This is true.
