America can be proud of its countless deserving symbols representing freedom and projecting a favorable image of our historical past but none are as legendary as the Liberty Bell. I chanced upon some tidbit folklore the other day as I was wandering around the internet and wanted to organize and share it with everyone. It relates to the Liberty Bell and America's future.
Well folks, as I was drifting from one object to another on E-Bay, I chanced upon a rare Turkish jezve which captured my attention. I always keep an open eye out for any rare or unusual looking items and this was very extraordinary. Usually, the common jezve is made of copper and there is nothing special looking about the coffee pots. Their top is generally wider then the bottom and they have a long handle on it to keep you from getting burned as you heat the coffee up.

Have you noticed lately the price of fresh sweet potatoes have been dropping? When the cost of produce takes a nose dive I believe it is time to start stock up on that vegetable for winter use. As of this writing, the cost of a bushel of sweet potatoes in my area is on the order of $22.00. Not too bad of a price all considering how much you pay if bought in your local grocery store. A comparison with my local Wal-Mart places those costs at around .89 cents per pound or about $44 dollars per bushel in the grocery store.

At the time I was living in Zaragoza Spain and we would usually venture down to a specific local restaurant in the town during the early evening hours. At this particular location the owner and his wife took a strong liking to my eldest son and he was treated as if he was one of the family members whenever we went into the establishment. By this I mean that art although it may appear to have no limits and will readily display man, women or child in just about any perspective that you can image, it is innocent in the sense that no vast monetary gains are immediately expected.
First off the Ancient Egyptian civilization has fascinated me since I was a young child. I can proudly claim to have more books on this era of history than our local library, books authored by such specialists as Massy, Shaw or Redford. I will first identify and provide some information on the image in question. The bust in question is that of Queen Tiye of Egypt often referred to as the Cat Goddess. Queen Tiye was the mother of Akhenaten and Amenhotep IV. She was eventually to become the grandmother of one of ancient Egypt's most popular and most known pharaohs, King Tut.

For this article entry I have decided to select Renaissance art for my topic of choice. These objects of art originated from the Renaissance period of history. This period of art is commonly recognized for its complex and ornate architectural patterns. Those paintings which have emerged from this time span were frequently commissioned by the church and as a result, customarily boarder upon religious topics. The influence of the church upon art at this period of time was exceptionally powerful and acceptance of one's art by the church establishment was instrumental in securing success as an artist.

When the time had arrived several months ago and I decided to select an art class for this semester's requirement, I did not enter the topic totally naive and unprepared. I did, in fact, have a working knowledge of basic artistic principles. I had ventured forth with my own expressions on canvas often times in the past. I had developed a mental list of my favorite painters and even a few artists which I did not particularly admire. All in all, I was in no way an expert nor will I be one at the conclusion of my week ten lesson, but I knew what types of paintings appealed to my human sensations. The art class had however, generously provided me with the proper tools so that I could now describe my feelings in an artistic manner.

As we progress on in our succession of art we boldly venture upon the 17th century Baroque style. This artistic endeavor was initially inspired by the mandates set forth by the Roman Catholic Church as they laid down specific rules which applied to art work. Their demands to the artist were that any work produced should be understandable to not merely the informed members of the society but to the illiterate as well. This moved art from a pure philosophical viewpoint to one of action.

If there were to exist one method by which a human being could be humbled it would be to position them in the center of a huge medieval cathedral such as Durham Cathedral. This Romanesque style cathedral was constructed between the years 1093 and 1133. As Sir Walter Scott so aptly remarked, "Half church of God, half castle "in reference to its immense size and purpose. To visualize what Scott had in mind consider for a moment a structure with an amazing length of 469 feet and a height of 73 feet with its towers extended upward to 218 feet. It is truly a magnificent creation. Located in the city of Durham, England this exquisite building is the seat for the Anglican Bishop of Durham.

Well I think I may have discovered an excellent way to accomplish that task for you. This year I have been signing up my thirteen year old grandson for various hunter safety courses with the state of Delaware. I am a firm believer that children should be properly instructed in the safe use of firearms at a young age. The age that is best for your children will better be determined by you since only you know how mature your children are and if they are ready for weapons use. Children who are deemed old enough to handle a firearm responsibly should not only receive training in the safe use of the weapon but also in how to behave properly at a shooting range.

As life may have it, my wife and I attended the Thursday afternoon, "Planning/Journaling in the Garden" presentation provided by the folks at our friendly Sussex County Master Gardeners. Well I suppose this is a typical example where you should read very carefully before you register for a class. Unfortunately I thought the class would be more on the lines of maintaining a garden journal than on the literary portions. As we first entered the class we were handed several pages of garden related poetry. This actually should have been our first clue that I had made a drastic error.

Garden articles are quickly appearing all over the internet. Everyone is getting psyched up for the approaching garden season and reading everything at their disposal. Libraries are running out of loaner books relating to the subject while many of the garden writers are kept busy creating tales for their readers. Like other folks we too are getting excited about the upcoming timeframe. We have been requesting garden catalogs by the loads and as they arrive at our door we read every page from front to back reviewing all the various benefits offered from each seed entry. The decision concerning which to select is difficult at best.

In view of the developments which are currently taking place in Cairo one has to wonder if urban survival is possible during such turbulent times. Rioting and looting seem to have no restraints as a crisis situation looms overhead. Not only are these dangers present during a possible infrastructure breakdown but they are clearly visible during earthquakes, floods and hurricanes. With our economy reaching an all time low there are greater chances of people becoming homeless and having no recourse but to live on the street. They will have no recourse except to live in various parking lots or on lonely side streets since shelter space is rapidly becoming a rare commodity.

Not everyone is compassionate for those who are unemployed or lacking any means of livelihood. These people are frequently look upon as non-human and must continually be vigilant in the event that the wrong person would discover that they were residing in their BOV.
